In some states, before requesting Apostille or Authentication certificates from government offices, the notarized documents need to be certified (also called verified/authenticated) by the County Clerk/the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county where the notary took the oath of office, or by the County Recorders where the records happened.
2. This service may apply to the documents below:
- Notarized documents signed by a notary public in Alabama, Georgia, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, and Tennessee.
- Vital Records (Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce Certificates) issued by a local or county official/registrar. For example, a California Birth Certificate issued by a County Health Officer will need this County Clerk Certification Service.

Most County Clerks process documents in a few weeks. i.e. Ventura County Clerk in California processes documents within a week, while the New York County Clerk may need 8 weeks for processing (based on our experience at the beginning of 2023). Please be patient and arrange in advance.
